Coach awoke to the delicious smell of bacon and made-from-scratch sourdough biscuits. Aunt L was outdoing herself. Hospitality achieved. We ate once again until we could not stand. It seems that the first half of this trip was thematically dominated by “Grandeur” – food, fjords, glaciers, whales, etc., and now Aunt L’s cooking.
After saying our goodbyes to Aunt M, Uncle R, Grandma, Grandpa and cousin, some headed home to Houston while others for more adventure in Washington, we packed up and got ready for Phase 2 of the TeamHovis adventure. We said our goodbyes and Uncle F gifted Coach a bottle of his finest! We had a lovely stay and look forward to our next visit.
Phase 2: Coach had to get back to work, so we rented a cabin with supreme Wifi for the week in Glacier, WA. Coach was looking forward to working from such a pristine location while having a great time hiking, rafting, and making merry with the family.
We headed north for almost Canada. About an hour into our journey we had a bathroom emergency. A quick exit was made. Starbucks! LadyCoach was happy to satisfy her addiction to legal stimulants. TeamHovis dismounted and entered the coffeebathatorium. The girls headed straight for the bathroom where they were immediately forced to handover the restroom to a lady police officer with a suspect in custody. Apparently, Officer Small Bladder could not make it back to the precinct, so she decided to stop in! Yep. This happened. Said officer, also managed to use all the TP, so LadyCoach had to cut the coffee line to ask for replacement paper. 45 minutes later. TeamHovis reentered their people-hauler. I mean really.
Our final stop was in Bellingham for a grocery run. Coach could not fathom why LadyCoach wanted to buy so much food. Now Coach wishes there were more snacks. Always trust a LadyCoach when snacks and children are involved. We arrived at the TreeHouse, relaxed and enjoyed leftover brats and burgers for dinner. The kiddos turned in early after watching the Baudelaires’ sad sad story and the adults kicked their feet up, hot tubbed, and read! Ahhh…..
